Enable Comprehensive Wi-Fi Coverage in Hazardous Areas and Extreme Environments

 

The iWAP Series of hazardous area Wireless access point enclosures are designed and certified for use in hazardous (classified) locations typically found in chemical plants, oil refineries, and around oil & gas platforms. A non-certified “industrial” version is also offered for use in extreme environmental conditions everywhere. Radios from leading WLAN vendors such as Cisco, Aruba and Siemens can be easily accommodated due to the universal design. The enclosures are supplied with internal power supplies, cable glands, and external antenna couplers to suit the specific vendor’s hardware. Select a pre-approved radio for quick delivery, or ask us to quote a solution using your alternative preferred equipment. Enclosures must be assessed for compatibility with individual radios but this is handled quickly and painlessly from the customer’s perspective.

The latest MIMO access points
can be deployed with the iWAP107 (below) which can field up to eight
antennas using intrinsically safe RF barriers. A unique version is available for the new high performance Aruba AP-274 radio.

The iWAP202 Zone 2 Access Point Enclosure is designed to deploy wireless networks in hazardous areas.

The concept allows installation of equipment from leading WLAN vendors such as Cisco, Aruba, Meru, Motorola and Firetide. Each type of Access Point or RF transmitting device is rigorously checked and tested by Extronics and our Notified Body to ensure conformity to the ATEX standards and approvals. This means that Extronics can provide an OEM a solution to enable your WLAN network devices to be installed in hazardous areas.

The Extronics iWAP202 is designed for use with one to six standard antennas or Extronics iANT2xx antennas for optimum coverage in Chemical Plants, Oil Refineries or Oil & Gas Platforms. Optional features include surge arrestors for lightening suppression in outdoor installations and either single and multi mode fiber inputs for the Ethernet, enclosure heating or cooling for low/high temperatures and anti-condensation plus the option of plug and socket cable entry instead of cable glands.

iWAP Mobile Zone 1 Portable WLAN System

The iWAP Mobile provides the ability to quickly deploy wireless infrastructure in remote hazardous classified locations, or parts of a plant that do not have permanent WLAN coverage. It can also be conveniently used to perform RF planning surveys prior to installing a WLAN system.

The system utilizes a verified access point of your choice installed in one of Extronics’ hazloc wireless access point enclosures, together with one or two Extronics’ hazloc antennas—all housed in a rugged anti-static polypropylene wheeled transportation case.

Various types of explosion-proof (Exd) live disconnect connectors can be fitted for hookup to power and Ethernet networks, or to allow multiple iWAP Mobile systems to be interconnected for special applications. A range of cable reels and special cable assemblies are available to achieve maximum efficiency, safety, and convenience in the field.

Seals on the door of the rolling case provide IP66 environmental protection yet permit total access. All leading radio hardware vendors are supported, including Cisco, Motorola, Meru, Aruba, and Firetide—tell us what you would like to use.
