Intrinsically Safe Barcode Laser Scanners
Photo of Gecma Model BCSi-RF handheld cordless intrinsically safe barcode laser scanner with Bluetooth
BCSi-RF Bluetooth® Barcode Laser Scanner
  • Certified I.S. for Zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21, 22
  • Cordless, rechargeable battery operated
  • Reads all common 1D and 2D barcodes
  • Choice of Bluetooth Class 1 & 2 models
  • Successful scan vibration feedback
  • Built-in illumination
  • Bifocal scan engine
  • Rugged stainless steel IP67 housing
Mark of certification to ATEX Directive 94/9/EC Mark of certification to IECEx Standard
The BCSi-RF is the world's first intrinsically safe barcode scanner with Bluetooth® for direct communication with laptops, tablet PCs and other Bluetooth® enabled application supporting devices (ASPs). The BCSi-RF also communicates with the EXMod-RF base station to provide hard-wired RS232 or RS422 serial data. Perfect for use in the pharmaceutical, paint, chemical, and other industries where the use of regular barcode scanning devices is prohibited in hazardous classified locations.

A rugged stainless steel IP67 housing stands up to the rough & tumble of industrial environments and has been ergonomically designed for easy operator use. It provides interactive vibration feedback to confirm successful scanning in noisy situations, and the bifocal scan engine captures the maximum decoding area. Built-in illumination enables use in conditions from total darkness to bright sunlight.

All of the most popular 1D and 2D barcode symbologies are supported. Auto calibration and operational settings are established by scanning test barcode patterns provided in the instruction manual. The scanner projects an aiming pattern with center cross marker.

The scanner's battery can be recharged in the hazarous area using the intrinsically safe charging supply provided by the ExMod base station. This saves time and the inconvenience of taking the unit to a non-hazardous location each time. Battery life between full charges will typically yeild 2000 scans. The charging cradle can be installed in any convenient location near the ExMod-RF base station.

Mark of certification to ATEX Directive 94/9/EC
The iSCAN100 is the latest development in barcode scanning technology for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. The unit offers a very high specification at an affordable price by using the very latest intrinsic safety technology.

The scanner is ergonomically designed with an IP55 pistol grip housing that is comfortable to use for an operator, even when wearing gloves. The housing has a rubber protective shield to protect it from dropping on to hard floors. The iSCAN100 comes with a spiral cable and is connected to your PC or other system by an iSOLATE100 intrinsically safe interface in either PS/2 or RS232 mode.

Most popular barcode symbologies are supported by the built-in decoder providing the PC or operator terminal with ASCII data.

The friction free scanning mechanism is designed to be highly reliable and give a long service life. Scanning 72 times per second at up to 13 inches away from the barcode makes this unit very practical to use for demanding applications.
