Serial Data Displays in Weighing Systems

The Models BA488C and BA484D have an operational mode known as ASCII pattern matching which is ideal for displaying weight and other data as part of a proprietary weighing system. Used as a remote display in a hazardous (classified) location, the operator can not only read the information but use the built-in push buttons to send back ASCII characters to the weigh controller – such as P for "print" and Z for "zero".

Custom programming enables the display to match the unique requirements of a given weighing system manufacturer – it can even store a company logo for display at power-up. The program is embedded in the display unit, will start up on power-up, and is preserved when power is turned off.

These serial data displays connect to the controller RS232/422 port via an intrinsically safe isolator. This enables transmission distances of up to 3,000 feet or more using a two-wire combined power and signal connection.
