Description
Migatron’s third generation of intrinsically safe 4-20mA analog ultrasonic sensors are certified for use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations and Explosive Atmospheres. Migatron’s intrinsically safe sensors are one of the first ever to receive an ANZEx certificate for use in Australia and New Zealand. It has also been certified in Europe, the United States, and Canada. These sensors can be used in hazardous gas or dust environments classified as Zone 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 or 22 for ANZEx/ATEX/IECEx and Class I, II or III for C-UL-US when used with approved intrinsic safety barrier(s). The sensor is completely sealed with an IP66/IP67 rating.
There is no calibration necessary, and no training required. Just apply power to the sensor and the output voltage will tell you precisely how far away the target is. For instance, the RPS-429AA-40P-IS2 measures distances in a range from 4 to 40 inches and produces 0.444 mA for every inch between the sensor and the target. When the target is four inches away, the current output is 4.0mA. When the target is forty inches away, the current output is 20.0mA and so on. This relationship is linear throughout the range of the sensor, so it’s easy to translate current output into distance.
The RPS-429AV-40P-IS2 is designed similarly. The RPS-429AV-40P-IS2 also measures distances in a range from 4 to 40 inches but with a voltage output instead of current output. It produces 0.111 volts per inch, so when the target is four inches away, the output voltage is 1.0 volts. When the target is forty inches away the output voltage is 5.0 volts and so on.
The RPS-429A-IS is designed to take advantage of today’s PLC and computer analog input cards. The numerical values that are programmed into the PLC or computer will determine the zero and span of the sensor.
Each sensor is short-circuit protected for safety and has built-in temperature compensation to provide accurate readings throughout the entire operating temperature range.
The IS2 and IS3 designation should be taken into account as the IS2 is certified for global use, and the IS3 is certified for U.S.A and Canada.
No Training Required. The Intelligence is Built In.
Migatron’s 429A sensors are pre-calibrated from the factory and require no training. With a linear relationship between either current or voltage output and distance to the target, it’s a very straight-forward process to program any PLC to interpret the results.
